Subject:Commissions Round 7 part 4
Time:09:46 pm

Everyone can read my terms, conditions and just how I go about doing customs here: Terms and Conditions

If anyone would like examples, they are here: Gallery

I do sometimes do art trades, so you're welcome to shoot me an offer if you'd like =^^=

Here's a rough run down of how my commissions work:

~I ship internationally, I'm from the US, and my home is pet free
~I would prefer paypal payments, (if that's inconvenient for you, message me and we could work something out), please no gifts [I heard too many can get your paypal frozen.]
~If you really want a plush but it's a bit pricey, I can do payment plans for the second fee ;)
~Everyone pays the materials fee up front.
~I will not ask for the last second payment until I start your plush
~I will also not finish your plush until I've received the second payment. If I cannot for some reason reach you within three days of requesting the first payment, I will halt your plush production and move on to the next person beneath you until the first payment is received. I will proceed to start back up after finishing the plush I was working on previous to the payment.
~The time it takes to make these plush may vary due to life's unexpected tendencies, so I can't really give you a good time frame, but I will try to do them within 15-20 days.
~There will be three payments, one for the materials before starting the plush, one for the plush when I start it, and one for the shipping/paypal fees after I finish it.
~Also, if you guys wouldn't mind letting me know when you receive your plushies, that would be wonderful
~Images: Sometimes I have them, make plans to take them and post them, but for one reason or another, if it doesn't get posted before you receive your plush, please don't take it personally :( I get really busy sometimes and it just slips my mind more often than not.

Pricing: Supplies fee, a skein of yarn costs $3-$5. For every color that I don't have already, there will be $3-$5 extra onto your total. Commission fees will range from $20 - $40 depending on which pokemon you guys request. You can request anything your little heart desires because I'll accept any pokemon. Shipping and Paypal fees will be added to your total as well.

Subject:Commissions Round 7 part 3
Time:09:41 pm

Round 8 wasn't so bad as much as I got a lot of trades. It still wasn't enough to keep me busy, but I think since things have been so slow, I'm going to be doing less slots until things pick up :\

Since I've done slots several times now, I've made a website for the terms, examples, and updates. This website is here: SPW Customs

Subject:DA just has to hate, doesn't it?
Time:07:04 pm
So I can't post pictures on my DA for whatever reason, but I'd really like to so people know I'm working =;v;= Why dost thou hate DA, why? So I guess I'm uploading crummy versions on Photobucket till I figure out why DA hates so much. Maybe it's my internet connection. It's been making a lot of my websites funky. :\ But there's nothing I can do till the internet people decide they can find my new house. THAT'S RIGHT, they canceled an appointment to install internet because they can't find my house. Yeah. Great. So until they find my house, I have to use the wifi at McDonald's. Greeeeeeeaaaaaaaaatt...I love screaming undisciplined kids.

Subject:Commissions Switch Up
Time:03:33 pm
Okay, so I'm thinking about switching things with my commissions up just a bit. Instead of having the posts for commissions scattered in the pkmncollectors community, I thought I might start posting them here in my journal so everyone has easier access.

If anyone needs a link to my website where I update for my customs you can check my DA or my actual website: SPW Customs

I'm also going to put up links to previous commission posts if anyone needs them for whatever reason.

Round 10 part 1: http://pkmncollectors.livejournal.com/11222198.html
Round 10 part 2:

Things to note:
* I don't really ever plan to do plush auctions again, and I don't plan to ever auction slots because that has always seemed wrong to me for some reason :\

** I don't plan to ever ask for bulk payment,[material fee, and plush fee together], unless the customer wants to for whatever reason.

So in other words, if anyone wants my customs, you'll be replying to a post here in my journal which is open to everyone so you don't need to be my friend to reply =^^=

I'm also going to set up a new feedback post here in this journal for my customs.

Subject:Where have you been?!
Time:06:02 pm
I'm sure everyone has been wondering just a little as to my whereabouts as of late, so this post is to specify just that. I've been super busy with not only my family, but work as well. I'm sure that a few of you were aware that my part time job sucked because of the owner holding an unprofessional grudge, and that I've been job hunting for quite a few months. Thanks to the kindness of a regular in at work, I was finally able to snag a full-time job! I tried to see for a week if I could stick it out and work both jobs, but since my full-time job is manual labor, I just can't pull off both. So Saturday, the 16th, I had put in my two weeks notice at my crappy part-time job.

My hours at my new job restrict me more than I could ever imagine. The hours are 8am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. So, I have to go to bed at 10:00pm to wake up at 6:45am in order to get to this new job of mine that has awesome benefits that I'm in need of, [health, dental, 401k], and these times don't leave me to do much else, especially if I've got to go to my part-time job the same day. It's just exhausting and I've been trying to adjust since I got the job on January 11th. Fortunately, I can count on my part-time job to suck so bad that I only have three days left before I quit and officially leave...yeah, I'm not gonna miss my $50 paychecks there, but I will miss the regulars and staff; such nice people, but run by awful standards and flat out rudeness. I usually don't complain about many things that I should; I'm very tolerant in that sense, but this part-time job just brings out the worst in some people. So many good people get so frustrated and angry working there that they wouldn't normally otherwise; it's just horrible! Anyways, my last day is January 30th, so that mess will be out of my hair and this new job should allow me to pay for my car, and move out on my own.

Another reason I've been so busy is that a family member died. My memaw, [grandma], passed away Wednesday, January 13th, 2010 at roughly 10:20pm. She'd had alzheimers for twelve years and I was with my family till the funeral on the 18th. I wasn't in the greatest of moods and still have an awful crink in my upper back from dealing with my family; most of which dropped her like a sack of potatoes when she was diagnosed with the horrible disease. It made me angry that they were even there because they didn't visit her, call to see how she was doing, nothing. They just scattered across the states and didn't think anything of it. Their own mother...two out of her eight children cared enough to make sure she was properly cared for. It's just something I've always been disgusted in my family that they'd do that...I couldn't even imagine abandoning my mother if anything like that ever happened to her! [no matter what's been between us in the past, it's just wrong to abandon your own flesh and blood because there's something wrong with them!!]

On top of all this, both of my laptops crashed on the same day...yeah, nice. So that took me at least three days to get back in order and there's still things I'm adjusting on my main laptop.

So, I'll be working as best I can to finish up commissions; with everything going on, I just kind of put them on hold, but I promise I will get them done! Group auctions will be posted some time tonight or tomorrow and I'm hoping to ship out everything on the 30th. I have not shipped any of my auctions out either, but I will get them out, I promise!

Subject:Not A Happy Camper
Time:11:42 am
Why? Because the customs business isn't going so well...b-but, we love your customs! I'm sure you do, I love them too. I'd love it more if these customs hadn't had to become a second income for me due to my job lacking in hours. I only raised prices a little bit because things are tough for me right now and I'm just sick of all the gripe I've gotten from people about the prices. I mean really...would you like to make the darn thing yourself because I don't have a pattern for you, [at least not one that would make sense]. Would you like to spend probably 10 or more hours trying to figure it out because you wouldn't know how to go about it? $20 - $30 is chump change compared to other custom plush that are generally $70 plus. So for those of you who have never taken a crack at crochet and are skeptic of my prices, let me break it down for you how I go about a plush.

Usually, I start out with a day or so to meditate on how I'll go about the pattern, what colors to use, and generally just a lot of thinking before I jump on to crocheting.
Now each pattern these days usually requires the use of one to three different sized hooks, and let me tell you...the smaller the hook, the more likely the yarn is to snag while you crochet it. If you snag the yarn, you may have to undo what you've just crocheted or you may even have to undo to a certain point, cut that string, & tie it to a new piece that isn't snagged, or you may have to start that particular piece over depending on where it goes on the plush and how easy you're able to camouflage the mistake. Imagine...all that because your yarn snagged once...a pain in the rear right? Yeah, can you grasp going over that 20 times? [oh yeah, I've been there with some plush...]
Another thing about my plush is that since I don't use a pattern, these plush are very trial and error. If I don't like the way something looks, I usually take it apart and start from scratch. BUT WHY?! You go so far and you just took it apart?!! Because it's not right to cheat your customers! If I don't do the best damn job that I can for the money my customers paid me to do, then what dignity do I have as a custom plush maker? I don't think that I'd have any if I didn't do my best.
Something else I don't think people take into account is the time it takes to make these plush. A simple project like the cats I made take ME 5 hours, my mother on the other hand with no pattern [because I don't have one], she couldn't even figure it out. She's an advanced crocheter and she shook her head telling me no, she couldn't make it without a pattern. Even when I told her how to do it, she still struggled...she been crocheting for so much longer than I have, [like 3 or 4 times as many years]. So, these patterns aren't just anything someone can pull out of their mind without a good deal of skill and creativity. I also work in a very timely manner. Some plush take a lot longer than my acclaimed 10 days; some plush take months.
I also don't use any felt like some crochet artists seem to do. Every plush I make is 100% crochet unless specially requested otherwise. So all the little circles and dots and do-dads, they're all crochet and yarn.

If you want to do my job, by all means, you're welcome to it. I encourage those that want to learn, but it's a lot of work as you can plainly see from reading the above. It takes a lot of time, effort, and endeavor...so when you request any custom, ask yourself if you want to go through the trouble to make it as well as someone who knows what they're doing. Every seller has their price and for the most part, those prices are damn good!

[I'm sorry that this post seems brutal, but so many people just seem to take it for granted and I'm just really tired of it all; you want the plush or you don't want the plush, make up your mind and don't try to barter D< ]
